The Kim Komando Radio Show Delivers Again!
Once again, the Kim Komando show has delivered some web traffic/link love to Snapact. As before (see here and here for more previous info), Snapact has experienced a relatively big spike in traffic, which is continuing as I type this. This time, however, we aren’t having download issues - I believe this means that we learned from our previous experiences…
Thank you once again for the repeat performance - and thank you to all the users who downloaded Snapact! If you haven’t already done so, sign up for a free photo sharing account on Snapact!

Three Weeks Later…
It’s been a while since there’s been a posting here on the Snapact blog - you might think it’s because we don’t care… but nothing could be further from the truth! We care so much, that we’re doing a website rewrite to enable us to more easily add new functionality in the future. A big part of the consideration for version 2.0 of the Snapact Photo Sharing Community website includes theme support - if you don’t like the current dark theme, well, we’d like to offer you some choice in that. (We didn’t actually think of this ourselves - you, our users have requested it! We simply listen.)
Anyhow, theming is only a small part of what we have in store for the Snapact website. We’re excited to roll out the new version… we just can’t say when that will be just yet, however. There’s still a fair amount of work to be done - we’re on it!
On a bit of a different note, we learned a lot from the spike in traffic about 3 weeks ago from the Kim Komando radio show website. Again, we’re very grateful for the publicity! We were able to improve some of the pages on the Snapact Photo Sharing Community website. In order to make website improvements, it’s necessary to have a decent sampling of traffic behaviour to draw some conclusions from.
We have a small percentage of users running at a 800×600 PC screen resolution - enough that we’re going to stick with it for now as a bare minimum. That said, we’ve been discussing themes on the Snapact website (color, layout, etc.) and page width is a part of that discussion - if we support a user-selectable theme, you might just have the option to go with a wider view… Anything is possible!
Lastly, the top ten countries showing interest (rolling over the past month) in Snapact are as follows:
- United States
- Italy
- Canada
- France
- Germany
- Brazil
- China
- Japan
- India
- United Kingdom
Thank you everyone for your support!

Increase in Website Visits
Due to yesterday’s posting on an American radio show’s website, we had a massive increase in traffic coming to the Snapact Photo Sharing website. I monitored the situation over the course of the day and was pretty pleased with the outcome. We had a 4722% increase in unique traffic from the day before!
While we realize the nature of such traffic - that it will spike up, then sadly fall - we appreciate it none the less. It helps to test our systems and infrastructure. It re-ignites our passion for what we’re doing. It is also GREAT exposure to new users!
We did actually notice an issue with the Snapact Photo Manager download yesterday - it wasn’t noticed until late in the day, unfortunately. We were re-directing our download traffic to Download.com for a variety of reasons - but at some point the Download.com server sort of de-listed the Snapact download. When this situation was noticed, we moved our download to a working server, but we have to wonder how many people were not able to get their hands on the Snapact Photo Manager…
If you know of someone who would enjoy Snapact, we wouldn’t object if you told them about us and what we do.
Thanks everyone!

We Should All Remember
I took a couple of hours off from Snapact today to attend the Remembrance Day memorial services at the Victoria, BC legislature buildings. While there were some excellent photo opportunities, I was glad to have just stood with other Victoria-area strangers in remembrance of how we got to where we are today - and particularly who helped us achieve it.
Thank you.
